The SPA News Circulars

If a new bright comet or a nova is spotted, you will read about it first in the News Circulars. We will produce the charts and other information to help you observe these spectacles for yourselves.

We also keep up to date with news from professional observatories and the latest results from Hubble and planetary probes. For example, in 1984, a special issue was published packed with up-to-the-minute observations of the impact on Jupiter of Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9.

The News Circulars' other major role is to report on members' own work for the SPA observing sections. Section directors write regular columns which could include YOUR own observations if you are willing play an active role.
